Papua New Guinea-based corned beef producer Ox & Palm has agreed a deal to title sponsor the National Rugby League’s Pacific Test Invitational series.
Ox & Palm’s two-year deal with the Australian-held competition is the first of its kind for the company.
Ox & Palm will feature on major assets relating to the series, including broadcast integration, signage, events, community promotional activities and digital and social media promotion.
Steve Woods, national head of sales and marketing for Kraft Heinz Hugo Canning, Ox & Palm’s parent company, said: “Ox & Palm has been the number one corned beef throughout our region for over 80 years and this partnership gives us the opportunity to further share our brand with the people of Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
“We know that the people of Papua New Guinea will be proud to see our name on the Kumuls and other nations' jerseys when they run out onto the field on Saturday.
“Rugby league is the most popular sport in PNG and is a great fit for our brand. We are hoping to make a real difference in supporting the Pacific Test Invitational over the next two-years, ensuring that the people of the Pacific, in partnership with Ox & Palm, can continue to enjoy and celebrate this fantastic event.”
The Pacific Test Invitational features squads from PNG, Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. This year’s event will take place on Saturday at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in New South Wales.
