Credit union TDECU has sealed a 10-year stadium naming rights deal worth $15m (€11m) with the University of Houston for its new American football stadium.
The sponsorship will run through June 16, 2024. TDECU is also the title partner of the TDECU suite on the stadium’s 50-yard line – one of 26 sold-out hospitality locations at the facility – and the Houston-based firm will benefit from ticket discounts for employees and members.
TDECU Stadium opens on August 29 when University of Texas at San Antonio visits for a game that will be televised nationally on ESPNU – the specialist university sports channel of US sports network ESPN.
Houston’s previous on-campus stadium, Robertson Stadium was demolished after the 2012 season.
Additionally, TDECU will sponsor the University of Houston Alumni Association’s Cougar 100 event, which celebrates new businesses owned or led by the university’s graduates.
Houston is preparing for its second season in the American Athletic Conference having gone 8-5 last year, losing to Vanderbilt in the showpiece Compass Bowl.
