Telecommunications company T-Mobile has expanded its partnership with Major League Baseball by becoming title sponsor of a new fan-chosen MLB award.
The T-Mobile MLB Game Changer Award will ask fans to vote for the most significant game-changing moments, and will culminate in honours awarded at the close of the season.
This season, T-Mobile will also feature All-Stars Bryce Harper and Andrew McCutchen in a national television campaign, with a new commercial starring Harper premiering in the US on ESPN’s Wednesday Night Baseball programme.
For the 2014 season, T-Mobile will also continue its team sponsorships with the Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals. It will also sponsor the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays for the first time this year.
In addition, T-Mobile has announced that it is offering its customers free access to the MLB.com At Bat application and its subscription features for the 2014 MLB season. The subscription, which is valued at $19.99 (€14), offers premium features such as live home and away radio broadcast feeds, the MLB.tv Game of the Day and up-to-the-moment pitch tracking.
MLB signed a multi-year, wide-ranging sponsorship deal with T-Mobile in January 2013, designating it as the official wireless partner of the league.
