Solar energy systems company SunEdison has agreed a three-year commercial partnership with the Nascar North American stock-car racing series.
SunEdison becomes the official solar energy partner of the Nascar Green initiative under the deal running from 2015 to 2018.
Nascar and SunEdison will undertake promotional initiatives to educate fans on the financial and environmental benefits of solar power use.
SunEdison will also work with Nascar partners, tracks and teams on commercial-scale solar solutions.
“Solar power is a proven and reliable form of renewable energy and the technology is already making a significant impact throughout our industry,” Nascar chief marketing officer Steve Phelps said. “Our strategic partnership with SunEdison will help Nascar further reduce the sport’s environmental impact and help continue to educate our fans on renewable energy.”
