Telecommunications firm Dialog Axiata has sealed a three-year deal with Sri Lanka Cricket, which represents the country’s biggest sponsorship agreement, according to the Daily Financial Times newspaper.
The contract will commence from June 1, with Dialog acting as official national team sponsor for both the men’s and women’s sides on tours both in Sri Lanka and overseas. The agreement is worth Rs754m (€4.6m/$6m) plus taxes.
The Sri Lanka Tea Board reportedly submitted a lower bid for the rights and had been lobbying for an equal share of the sponsorship.
Dialog will replace rival telecommunications firm Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, which has sponsored Sri Lanka Cricket for the past four years.
