The Scottish Professional Football League has signed up Utilita Energy as the presenting partner of the latter stages of its 2015-16 League Cup club competition.
The energy provider has been named the official presenting partner of the Scottish League Cup knockout competition for the rest of the 2015-16 campaign.
The deal begins immediately, with Utilita set to sponsor the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the competition.
The SPFL signed a similar deal with transport, utilities and private construction business QTS Group for the closing stages of the 2014-15 League Cup, with the competition having lacked a permanent main sponsor since the Scottish government ended its two-year backing at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season.
Bill Bullen, chief executive of Utilita Energy, said: “Utilita has grown very quickly, as customers respond to our price commitment to be cheaper than the big six, and we believe that partnerships such as this will help continue that momentum and take us to new audiences in Scotland. This is a new strategy for us and one we will fully embrace. We have some wonderful ideas to really elevate this partnership with the SPFL.”
The quarter-finals of the competition begin later this month, with current champion Celtic travelling to Heart of Midlothian in the pick of the ties.
