Ice hockey’s Spengler Cup has partnered with Swiss broadband operator UPC Cablecom ahead of this year’s tournament.
UPC Cablecom will become a ‘silver partner’ of the Cup and has also being named as a data partner. The exact length of the agreement was not disclosed.
Among other initiatives, Cablecom will help measure which players produced the fastest shots during the tournament.
Fredi Pargätzi, president of the Spengler Cup, said: “Cablecom has the technical expertise and experience of the ideal data partner. It can benefit the organisers as well as the match visitors.”
Six teams from Switzerland, Canada, Germany and Finland will compete in the 89th Spengler Cup. Every game will be played at the Vaillant Arena in Davos, Switzerland. The tournament takes place from December 26-31.
