Newly-promoted Premier League club Sheffield United has signed a new partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Al Wefaq Rent A Car.
Under the deal, Al Wefaq will become the club’s first Official Car Rental Partner, and will have branding on all training, coaching and travel kit during the 2019-20 season.
Founded in 2000, Al Wefaq Rent a Car has more than 80 branches located in Saudi cities, domestic and international airports, and in airports in Egypt and the UAE.
Nasser Al-Qahtani, chairman of Al Wefaq Rent A Car, said the deal is part of Saudi Arabia’s vision to become a major global sports investor by 2030.
Sheffield United is part-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
This year, Saudi Arabia’s other notable sports events have included the Ad Diriyah E-Prix and the PGA European Tour, which took place at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City.
