The Scottish Football Association has agreed a four-year renewal to its partnership with confectionary company Mars Chocolate UK.
Under the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Mars retains its role as an official partner of the Scotland national team and the SFA until July 2018.
Mars and the SFA began working together in 2011 and have sought to increase adult participation in football through the Just Play initiative.
“Adult participation is a key strand of our One National Plan, particularly among over 35s, and with the support of the Mars brand, we have rejuvenated the interest of players who have lapsed for a variety of reasons,” Jim Fleeting, SFA director of football development, said. “I am delighted to continue our excellent partnership with Mars and their ‘Just Play’ initiative.”
Scotland’s national team beat the Republic of Ireland 1-0 in a Uefa Euro 2016 qualifier in Glasgow on Friday, where it will host England in a friendly tonight (Tuesday).
