Consumer electronics company Samsung has entered into a partnership with the Tough Mudder obstacle course series.
As part of the deal, Samsung will deliver exclusive content and training tips to competitors through its devices, as well as on-site experiences at UK-based Tough Mudder events.
The partnership began with last weekend’s Tough Mudder Yorkshire event and runs through to the end of the 2018 season.
Under the agreement, participants will be able to use Gear VR headsets, Gear 360 portable cameras and wearable fitness devices during events.
Participants will be granted access to 360-degree preview video content of each obstacle course event prior to starting the race. Samsung will also develop training programmes across its wearable fitness devices, including the Gear S3.
In addition, Samsung will sponsor Tough Mudder’s new Kong obstacle course, which has been developed exclusively for participants that have competed in at least one previous Tough Mudder event. Kong participants will be able to capture race content using the Gear 360 camera.
Samsung will also have a presence in the Mudder Village, where VR footage and product displays will be showcased and head-to-head challenges will be launched. Participants and spectators will be able to capture a memento of their experience in 360-degree form by being photographed hanging from the side of the container on ‘Kong 360’, a replica of a particularly difficult part of the Kong course.
Samsung is offering all Tough Mudder participants 15 per cent off GearS3 and GearFit2 devices when they order from Samsung.com.
