Life insurance company Great Eastern has renewed an agreement with the Football Association of Singapore to serve as a co-title sponsor of the top-tier S.League club competition.
The new two-year deal will cover the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Great Eastern shares title sponsorship of the S.League with food and beverage company Yeo’s.
The 2017 S.League season begins with the Community Shield match between Albirex Niigata and Tampine Rovers on February 26. It will mark the first time an S.League match has been played at the main stadium at Singapore Sports Hub (pictured).
Great Eastern will title sponsor the Community Shield and will use the match to help raise funds for underprivileged school children.
Lim Kia Tong, president of the Football Association of Singapore’s provisional council, said: “The S.League is the apex of our football pyramid, and is hugely important to Singapore. While we have been working hard to expand the base of the pyramid, it is also essential for us to keep the top healthy – we believe this sponsorship extension is a solid testament of our stakeholders’ faith in what we are doing, and in the upward trajectory of Singapore football.”
The S.League is Singapore’s only professional sports league.
