Russian state-owned oil company Rosneft has reached an agreement to serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2015 World Touring Car Championship rounds in China and its homeland.
Rosneft is the title sponsor of the Lada Sport factory team in the WTCC this season and, under an agreement with the motor racing series’ promoter Eurosport Events, it has expanded its involvement.
The WTCC Race of Russia takes place at Moscow Raceway from June 5-7, with the Race of China at the Shanghai International Circuit on September 25-27.
Rosneft will benefit from a number of branding and media opportunities at both events, while it will enjoy extensive media coverage in association with the WTCC.
François Ribeiro, WTCC general manager, said: “Concluding this exciting agreement with a company of Rosneft’s standing is another significant boost for the WTCC. Prior to the start of 2015, Rosneft’s marketing activities were centred on events taking place in Russia only.
“However, it recognised the benefits of supporting Lada Sport in the WTCC and we are thrilled that Rosneft has extended its involvement in the championship by becoming the event presenting partner of two of the biggest races of the season.”
