Petronas gets trackside rights for Malaysia and Thailand MotoGPs

Malaysian oil and gas multinational Petronas has extended and expanded its partnership with Dorna Sports, the rights-holder for MotoGP, for three years from 2018 to 2020.

Under the deal, Petronas will get trackside advertising at the Sepang International Circuit and Chang International Circuit – hosts to the Malaysia and Thailand Grand Prix respectively.

The Thailand Grand Prix takes place this weekend. The Malaysia Grand Prix takes place in the first weekend of November.

Having been involved in the sport in the early 2000s, Petronas is currently involved in the Moto3 Junior World Championship, Moto3 and Moto2 World Championship,

Petronas has also stepped up as Title Sponsor to the newly-formed Petronas Yamaha SRT team – the first fully-Malaysian outfit to line up on the MotoGP grid starting next year.

Dorna Sports has inked long-term contracts with most of its main partners. Of its five main central deals BMW is contracted until 2020, DHL to 2021, Tissot to 2022 and Michelin to 2023. Dorna’s deal with Singha expires at the end of 2019.
