Tokyo-based company Otsuka Pharmaceutical has signed a sponsorship deal with the Olympic Council of Asia to make its Pocari Sweat brand the official sports drink for the next two editions of the Asian Games multi-sport event.
Launched in 1980, Pocari Sweat is an electrolyte drink that retails in 17 countries worldwide.
The 2014 Asian Games will take place in Incheon, Korea from September 19 to October 4, while Hanoi, Vietnam will be the host for the 18th Games in 2019.
Otsuka has partnered the Asian Games on three previous occasions at Bangkok 1998, Busan 2002 and Doha 2006, where Pocari Sweat was promoted through the company’s presence at the athletes’ village.
