The Indian subsidiary of Chinese smartphone brand Oppo has sealed title sponsorship rights for the upcoming edition of the Champions League T20 club cricket tournament.
Oppo’s investment comes after the company made its entry into the Indian market, where the Champions League will be held, in early 2014. Financial terms for the agreement were not disclosed.
Tom Lu, chief executive at Oppo Mobiles India, said: “We are truly fortunate to have won the title sponsorship rights for such a prestigious and popular cricket tournament.
“We are sure, with Champions League T20, more and more Indian users will get to know about our brand, the technology and the experience our smartphones deliver.”
The 2014 Champions League T20 starts on September 13 and runs until the final on October 4. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab make up the entrants from the Indian Premier League, along with Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes from Australia's Big Bash League, South African duo Dolphins and Cape Cobras, Lahore Lions from Pakistan, New Zealand’s Northern Districts Cricket and Southern Express of Sri Lanka.
