Octo picks up option for MotoGP’s British Grand Prix

Italian telematics company Octo has agreed to extend its title sponsorship of the British Grand Prix, the 12th round on this season’s MotoGP motorcycling championship.

The agreement builds on Octo Telematics’ strong commitment to MotoGP as it is the current title sponsor for the Octo Pramac Racing team.

Brokered by the series’ commercial rights-holder Dorna Sports, Octo last year agreed a deal covering the 2015 edition of the race, with the option to extend for a further two years. It has now elected to activate its option for the 2016 British GP, which takes place at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire on September 2-4.

Fabio Sbianchi, chief executive of Octo Telematics, said: “Telematics technology has a key role to play in international motor sports, but it’s also important for every driver and we’re proud of our commitment to delivering continued innovation for the benefit of all. We were really pleased to see Danilo Petrucci of Octo Pramac Racing on the podium at Silverstone in 2015 and we are excited about Scott Redding riding in his home GP.”
