Nascar resurrects Mexico series with new sponsor backing

North American stock-car racing series Nascar has reached an agreement with Old World Industries for the automotive products manufacturer’s Peak brand to title sponsor the returning Mexico Series.

The multi-year agreement officially names the series as the Nascar Peak Mexico Series. Peak, along with fellow OWI brand BlueDef, also becomes an official Nascar partner.

Nascar’s logo will feature on a range of Peak and BlueDef products as part of the deal.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to develop young talent and engage our passionate fan base in Mexico,” Lou Garate, vice-president of partnership marketing at Nascar, said. “Peak is a world-class brand and its three decades of experience in motorsports will help elevate Nascar-sanctioned racing in Mexico.”

Nascar Mexico did not run in 2016 after organisers chose to reassess a programme that had run for nine seasons. The backing of OWI and Peak has led to the series’ return in the country.

The series will return with an exhibition event in Mexico City on the weekend of December 3-4 and will officially commence in 2017, with a full championship schedule to be released at a later date.
