Mining group National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed up to become an associate sponsor for the forthcoming 2014 Champions Trophy men's national team hockey tournament in India.
NALCO joins a commercial roster that features motorcycle manufacturer Hero as title sponsor, while Tata Steel also became an associate sponsor last week.
The financial details of NALCO’s deal with the Champions Trophy were not disclosed but the company’s managing director Sri Ansuman suggested promotions would be focused on encouraging youth participation in hockey.
Ansuman said: “We have been promoting various sports and this association will inspire people and young kids to play the speedy game.”
The Champions Trophy runs from December 6-14 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, featuring Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, Netherlands and Pakistan competing alongside hosts India.
