Crude oil producer Cairn India has signed up as a sponsor of the 2014 Champions Trophy men’s hockey tournament.
The national team tournament, which commenced on Saturday and runs through to December 14, is being hosted in the Indian city of Bhubaneswar.
Cairn India has sponsored the Hockey India governing body since February 2013 and is a current co-sponsor of India’s national teams.
Under the terms of its sponsorship of the Champions Trophy, the company will award a special trophy, entitled Cairn India – Most Energetic Indian Player of the Tournament, to the home player who makes the biggest impact in the competition.
