Japanese sportswear and equipment company Mizuno has entered into a partnership with HSG Wetzlar, while rival Handball Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin has extended its deal with real estate company Deutsche Wohnen, its main sponsor.
Mizuno’s deal with Wetzlar will run for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21. It marks Mizuno’s first partnership with a Handball Bundesliga club.
Mizuno will serve as the official kit and shoe supplier of the team. The deal also covers Wetzlar’s junior team.
Mizuno’s marketing manager Bernd Reishofer said: “We promise to make Mizuno even more widely known, especially among young people and amateurs. We also want to further strengthen and expand our position as a top performance handball brand.
“HSG Wetzlar, with its large and enthusiastic fan base on the one hand, but also with their many years of experience in professional and amateur handball on the other hand, is the ideal partner for this. I'm sure that the partnership will only benefit both sides and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
Füchse Berlin’s new deal with Deutsche Wohnen, meanwhile, will run until at least 2022 under a three-year extension. The Berlin-based company has served as the club’s main sponsor since 2016 and benefits from brand exposure on the team’s shirts.
The two parties’ previous deal was due to expire next year. The agreement also covers Füchse Berlin’s youth teams.
