French tyre manufacturer Michelin has agreed a deal to become a sponsor of the Brazil national football team.
The partnership marks the first time Michelin has invested in any sport outside of motor racing in its 126-year history.
The terms of the deal between Michelin and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) were not disclosed.
CBF president Jose Maria Marin said: “I am very happy with this partnership, which I am sure will bear good fruit.”
Brazil is a five-time world champion and hosted this year’s Fifa World Cup, reaching the semi-finals before suffering a 7-1 defeat at the hands of eventual winner Germany.
