MetLife completes World Baseball Classic sponsor roster

NEW YORK-BASED insurance company MetLife has become the fourth and final sponsor of the World Baseball Classic.

MetLife becomes a Global Sponsor and the Official Insurance Company of the 2013 edition of the national team tournament, sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation.

Under terms of the deal, MetLife will also be the title sponsor of the All-World Baseball Classic Team, which will be comprised of the best performers at each on-field position during the tournament.

The company will have in-stadium exposure across seven venues in four countries – USA, Japan, Puerto Rico and Taiwan – and will appear on worldwide media platforms.

MetLife’s Snoopy-themed blimps will provide broadcast coverage of games, two of which will be based in the US and one in Japan. MetLife will also take advertising slots during global broadcasts of the event.

The two semi-final games and the Championship game will be held at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

MetlLife joins Delta Air Lines, videogame maker Konami and travel promoter Brand USA, as the other Global Sponsors of the event.
