Car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has been unveiled as the official partner of the 2018 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship.
A total of 28 teams and 600 players are expected to participate at the event, which will take place from August 16-26 in Hamburg, Germany.
Hamburg has hosted the sport’s European Championships on three occasions and the World Championship is the second largest event in disabled sport, after the Paralympic Games.
“Mercedes-Benz is a brand with charisma and the extensive mobility service of our partner is unique in disabled sport. Mercedes-Benz also actively supports people with a disability in the world of work. More than 8,000 members of staff with a disability are employed by the company in Germany. This also spurs us on to fly the flag for inclusion sustainably with the World Championship,” said World Championship director Anthony Kahlfeldt.
