Automotive manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has struck an agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to become an official partner of the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.
The agreement will cover two seasons of the tournament, from 2016 to 2017.
Maruti Suzuki has joined the tournament’s other official partners, such as telecommunications company Vodafone, Yes Bank and payments service Freecharge.
Under the deal, Maruti Suzuki will receive branding exposure in stadia during IPL matches.
Maruti Suzuki’s expenditure on sports marketing has increased by 20 per cent year-on-year, with the company spending about 12 per cent of its total marketing budget on sports.
