Manchester United to promote Malta in new sponsorship deal

Manchester United has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the Government of Malta and the Malta Tourism Authority that will promote the island nation to the English Premier League club’s global fan base.

The three-year agreement was announced today (Friday) as United players Juan Mata, Phil Jones and Andreas Pereira, plus former captain Bryan Robson, welcomed officials from the Maltese authorities to the club’s Aon Training Complex.

Under the deal, the Visit Malta slogan will receive “strong exposure” during Manchester United’s home matches and via the club’s digital marketing channels, along with social and printed media.

The club said that it will work with Visit Malta to “encourage the club’s fans around the world to experience the vibrant, young, exciting and beautiful country, with the Maltese Tourism Authority providing attractive travel offers exclusively for Manchester United supporters”.

In announcing the agreement, the club flagged up its “deep and enduring ties with Malta”, given the recent 60th anniversary of the Manchester United Maltese Supporters Club.

Sean Jefferson, the club’s director of partnerships, said: “Manchester United has long-standing links with Malta, welcoming hundreds of Maltese fans to Old Trafford every season. We are proud of our association with the country and look forward to working with the Maltese Tourism Ministry and Malta Tourism Authority to highlight the destination’s many great qualities to our international fanbase.”
