Manchester United banks extended partnership in Asian markets

English Premier League football club Manchester United has agreed a five-year extension to its partnership with Malaysian banking group Maybank.

Under the deal, Maybank will upgrade its status from an affinity partner to become the club’s official retail banking partner in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

The move will mark the club’s first retail banking partnership in the Philippines and will expand on existing partnerships that were launched in Malaysia and Singapore in 2011. This will also see the launch of a co-branded Maybank and Manchester United Visa credit card in the Philippines.

In addition, Maybank will now be able to utilise official United branding across the business. Maybank will also offer customers the chance to win prizes such as signed shirts, memorabilia and tickets to watch the team play.
