SWISS WATCHMAKER Longines has agreed a “long-term” deal to sponsor equestrian sport’s Global Champions Tour.
The agreement sees Longines become Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Tour, which will now be known as the Longines Global Champions Tour.
The 2013 Tour will include debut events in London, Shanghai and Madrid, with the Spanish capital getting the season under way on May 3.
“This partnership is a significant milestone in our history and I look forward to a successful collaboration that will bring many benefits for the future of our sport,” said Jan Tops, president and founder of the Tour.
Longines president Walter von Känel added: “The Longines Global Champions Tour and our brand share common values such as precision, tradition and especially a passion for equestrian sports.”
For the first time, the championship final will take place at the Al Shaqib equestrian facility in Doha, Qatar.
