Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer JVCKenwood has extended its partnership with the World Touring Car Championship motor racing series.
The company has served as an official partner of the series since 2009 and has agreed a new “long-term” deal. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The agreement named JVCKenwood a presenting partner of the season-opening event at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, which concluded yesterday (Sunday). The company has also been named a presenting partner of this year’s Race of Japan event at Twin Ring Motegi, which takes place from September 2-4. It will receive a range of branding opportunities at its home race, where its radio systems and video cameras will also be promoted.
JVCKenwood’s partnership with the WTCC also includes a new pit-to-car communication service that aims to enhance the viewing experience of fans watching on television. Each car will be fitted with the company’s state-of-the-art technologies to enable drivers to communicate with their team.
In addition, JVCKenwood will partner with the WTCC Hall of Fame display at the WTCC Fan Village, which will be present at each race on this year’s calendar. The company’s new JVC GY-HM650 ProHD video camera will also be used by select broadcasters on selected race weekends, while plans are in place for an advertising campaign to be aired on pan-regional broadcaster Eurosport during its coverage of the series.
