English Premier League football club West Bromwich Albion has extended sponsorship deals with outdoor clothing and equipment provider Jack Wolfskin and online gambling company Bet365.
The one-year deal with Jack Wolfskin will run until the end of the 2014-15 season, while the two-year renewal with Bet365 will run until the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Jack Wolfskin, which has been a commercial partner of the club since the start of the 2013-14 season, threatened to curtail its sponsorship in the midst of controversy surrounding former striker Nicolas Anelka last season.
The company said earlier this year that it was considering ending its deal “as one option” after Anelka made a ‘quenelle’ gesture, considered by some observers to have racist connotations, in a game against West Ham United in January.
Anelka was fined and handed a five-game ban following an independent regulatory commission hearing into the gesture, after which Albion immediately suspended the striker. In March, the club sacked Anelka for ‘gross misconduct’.
