Multinational hotels company the InterContinental Hotels Group has agreed a two-year deal to become a sponsor of the new Fiji International golf tournament.
Sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia, the inaugural Fiji International will take place at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course. The tournament is scheduled to run at the same venue for five years.
According to the Fijilive.com website, the InterContinental Hotels Group will become the official resort of the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Fiji International.
The company will welcome players and VIPs to its InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa during the tournament.
Matthew Prom, head of commercial for Fiji International, said: “Golf tourism is an emerging market with over 20-per-cent growth in the last two years alone and with further growth forecast for 2014.”
The 2014 Fiji International will run from August 14-17.
