PGA Tour event lands presenting sponsor

The Desert Classic PGA Tour golf tournament has agreed a deal for computer software company Workday to become its new presenting sponsor.

The deal covers the 2019 edition of the tournament, which will be held in La Quinta, California from January 17-20.

The tournament does not have a title sponsor and will be known as the Desert Classic presented by Workday. The tournament’s executive director, Jeff Sanders, said he does not believe a title sponsor will be found in time for next month’s event.

Online employment website CareerBuilder served as the event’s title sponsor from 2016 to 2018. It had been due to support the event until 2021 but announced earlier this year that it would not be returning in 2019.
