Farmers Insurance secures five-year extension with PGA Tour event

Automobile, home and small business insurers Farmers Insurance has extended its title sponsorship of PGA Tour golf tournament the Farmers Insurance Open by five years.

The new agreement takes effect following the 2014 tournament, scheduled for the week of January 20-26 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, and runs through to 2019.

Farmers Insurance has continued the tournament’s commitment to charities in the San Diego area since taking on the sponsorship in 2010, generating $2.5m (€1.84m) in 2013 to raise the total during the events’ history to $26m.

Tiger Woods won the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open, the seventh time he has lifted the trophy and eighth time he has won at Torrey Pines following the world No.1’s 2008 US Open success.
