Dairy products manufacturer Amul has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Indian Olympic Association ahead of the summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Indian Express newspaper reported that the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which manages Amul, would pay the IOA Rs10m (€133,000/$148,000) as part of the deal.
Under the agreement, Amul will launch an advertising campaign to promote the Indian team in the build-up to, and during, the Games, which take place from August 5-21. The company will also encourage young people to drink more milk as part of its ‘Eat Milk with Every Meal’ initiative.
Amul sponsored Indian athletes at the 2012 Games in London, England, at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland and at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
India will take over 100 athletes to Rio 2016 – more than ever before.
