Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has agreed deals to become an official partner of Dutch football club Ajax and a business partner of the Eredivisie champion’s Amsterdam ArenA.
Huawei’s official partnership with Ajax is for three years and grants the company an extensive branding presence through LED board advertising at home matches and visibility on the club’s online and offline media properties.
The company recently launched its Ascend P7 smart phone in the Netherlands and the deal with Ajax includes several elements geared towards brand activation.
Huawei’s five-year partnership with the Amsterdam ArenA is a technology agreement under which it will create an open-access wireless LAN infrastructure, giving those in attendance access to a free WiFi network during matches and other events at the stadium from the beginning of 2015.
Wang Dexian, chief executive of Huawei Technologies Netherlands, said: “Huawei is delighted to partner with Ajax and the Amsterdam ArenA to show our sustainable commitment to the Netherlands. Sport is a very important part of our brand strategy, where we have partnered already with some of the biggest clubs in the world. This strategic partnership will also highly contribute to develop a new broadband solution for stadiums in the Netherlands and our innovative technology will bring new and better experiences to the fans and visitors.”
