Green energy brand signs with AC Milan

Serie A club AC Milan has signed an ‘Official Green Energy Partner’ deal with Italian integrated and eco-sustainable energy solutions company Invent SRL.

Sante Bortoletto, founder of Invent SRL, said the company’s ambition was to emulate AC Milan’s historical success in football by making its mark in the rapidly-developing green economy.

Mauro Tavola, partnerships director at AC Milan said the agreement would “accelerate the process of growth and development that our club has undertaken with great determination in the field of sustainability.”

Invent is positioned as an Official Partner of the club in the third sponsorship tier with brands like Fujitsu (air conditioning), Peroni (beer) and PES2019 (football video games).

The partnership is understood to be a three-season deal, from 2019-20 to 2021-22, and builds on AXA’s existing Global Partner agreement with Liverpool.

The deal is the largest ever sponsorship investment in UK women’s sport and comes less than a year after the league went fully professional in September 2018.

Under the five-year global deal, Oppo will become the first Official Smartphone Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, as the event is officially known.

US sportswear brand Nike is paying about $7.5m (€6.7m) per year to sponsor China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), according to industry sources.
