World Sailing has agreed to a mutual termination of its sponsorship agreement with Russian energy company Gazprom.
Gazprom was unveiled as an official partner of World Sailing in 2015, when the body was known as the International Sailing Federation.
The deal had been due to run until December 2019 but both parties have agreed to bring the relationship to an early end.
World Sailing said that Gazprom has exercised its right to terminate the agreement with effect from next month. The two parties are currently finalising the financial arrangements in connection with the termination of the agreement, with talks set to be concluded by the end of the year.
No reason was given for the termination.
