Formula E takes charge with new truck partner

Charge, a UK-based automotive technology company and maker of smart electric trucks, has entered into a partnership with the Formula E electric car-racing championship.

Under the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, Charge will become the official electric truck partner of the series.

The company’s electric trucks will be displayed at Formula E events across the globe. Charge will provide vehicles for the series’ driver parade and for on and off-track logistics.

The agreement began with Sunday’s Paris ePrix in France, where the first Charge truck was unveiled in partnership with DHL, Formula E’s official logistics partner.

Formula E chief executive Alejandro Agag said: “They (Charge) are an incredibly innovative company – the way they are approaching the electric truck and bus market with software that improves the hardware is very intelligent and it means our entire series, from the cars to the trucks, is completely electric and that’s a powerful message for change.”

The eighth round of this season’s Formula E championship will take place in the German capital of Berlin on May 21.
