Federer toasts mega-deal with Moët & Chandon

ROGER FEDERER will be paid at least $30 million over the next five years as a result of his latest endorsement deal with Moët & Chandon, according to reports.

The 17-time tennis grand slam champion was unveiled as a brand ambassador for the champagne house last week and will be the focus of an advertising campaign for the brand beginning in March.

While duration and financial terms of the sponsorship remain undisclosed, ESPN’s sports business reporter Darren Rovell posted a series of tweets on the subject:

“Hearing major buzz that Roger Federer has signed a colossal deal with champagne brand Moët & Chandon, also an ATP sponsor.

“Moët & Chandon deal with Federer would qualify as one of the most valuable alcohol endorsement deals in sports marketing history.

“Source: Federer’s 5-year deal with Moët & Chandon is valued at more than $30 million.”

As Rovell alludes, Moët & Chandon is an existing sponsor of the ATP World Tour. The brand signed a three-year deal in November 2011 to become a ‘gold partner’ (tier three) of the Tour, while also acquiring gold sponsorship status for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Moët & Chandon becomes Federer’s tenth corporate partner and will further boost his annual commercial income, which is thought to be in the region of $40m to $50m.

Roger Federer’s sponsors: Credit Suisse, Gillette, Jura, Lindt, Mercedes-Benz, Moët & Chandon, Nationale Suisse, Nike, Rolex and Wilson.
