The English Football Association will sell newly-created territory-specific international sponsorship deals as part of its next rights cycle, Sports Sponsorship Insider understands.
Deals with telecommunications brands in Asian and North American markets will be the first targets for the FA.
English Premier League clubs have been successful in agreeing such deals in recent years. Manchester United, for example, has 14 different telecommunications partners in different territories, including Bakcell in Azerbaijan, TM in Malaysia and Zong in Pakistan.
The FA’s next four-year sponsorship rights cycle runs from August 1, 2014 to July 31, 2018.
More on this story and analysis of the FA’s complete sponsorship portfolio will be featured in the next edition of the Sports Sponsorship Insider newsletter, which will be delivered to subscribers on June 21.
