Dubai-based airline Emirates has renewed its long-running partnership with the International Cricket Council.
Emirates will remain a global partner of all ICC events from 2016 to 2023 after agreeing a seven-year extension to its existing deal. The agreement will cover the next World Twenty20 tournament in Australia in 2020, as well as two editions of the Champions Trophy and two World Cups. The agreement covers various other women’s, age-group, qualifying and development tournaments.
The airline will also continue to serve as the title sponsor of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Match Referees. The Emirates logo will appear on the clothing of umpires during all international cricket matches as part of the agreement.
Emirates first sponsored the ICC in 2002 before becoming an official event partner and sponsor of the aforementioned umpires panel in 2007.
Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ divisional senior vice-president of corporate communications, marketing and brand said: “The renewal of our partnership with the ICC confirms our commitment to cricket, which dates all the way back to 1999 when we sponsored the Australian team, which went on to win the World Cup. Since then, cricket has offered us a powerful platform to connect with fans and communities of cricket playing nations across Asia, Australasia and the UK.”
