Duracell has been unveiled by World Rugby, the global governing body of rugby union, as the official battery provider for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.
Vicky Miller, Duracell’s business leader for the UK and Ireland, said that the deal would not only strengthen the battery provider’s brand in the UK and Ireland, but also in key markets such as Italy, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
World Rugby chief executive Brett Gosper added: “The appointment of a yet another brand sector leader within our strong portfolio of commercial partners further underscores the enormous prestige of Rugby World Cup in global commercial marketplace.”
The Duracell announcement follows the appointment of Heineken, Land Rover, Société Générale, DHL, Emirates and MasterCard as Rugby World Cup worldwide partners; and Coca-Cola, Canon and Toshiba as official sponsors. Other agreements include Gilbert as the official ball supplier, Canterbury of New Zealand as official sportswear supplier, Clifford Chance as official law firm, EY as business adviser, Dove Men+Care as official male grooming supplier and ESP as master licensee.
