The Drone Racing League has extended its partnership with German financial services company Allianz, along with announcing a new event at the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice, France.
Allianz will continue to title sponsor the DRL’s Championship Race Series for the next five years, with the company to take drone racing to the Allianz Riviera for the first time on June 16.
The Allianz Riviera has a capacity of 35,000 and is the home of French Ligue 1 football team OGC Nice. The June 16 event will feature home favourite Dunkan Bossion.
Allianz entered into a multi-year partnership with the DRL in February 2017. Under the agreement, Allianz’s logo features on the uniforms of pilots, on the starting podiums and throughout the courses.
“After the excitement of Allianz' first season as title sponsor of the DRL Allianz World Championship, we knew we wanted to extend our partnership to five years and continue this amazing growth journey together,” Allianz head of group market management and distribution, Jean-Marc Pailhol, said.
“DRL has been a perfect strategic partner for Allianz. Going forward we will continue working with DRL to expand the Allianz World Championship and present this spectacular new sport to additional audiences around the world.”
