Global logistics company DHL has entered into a sponsorship deal with USA Rugby, the national governing body for rugby union in the country.
Under the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, DHL will become a presenting sponsor of USA Rugby.
The company will also serve as the official express delivery and logistics provider of the US national team’s match against New Zealand on November 1. DHL will benefit from in-stadium branding at Soldier Field in Chicago, advertising and hospitality at the game and will present the match ball prior to kick-off.
The firm will also be present at all USA Rugby National Championship Series events from the round of eight to the final championship weekend. Activation will also take place during USA Rugby home matches in 2015 in the lead up to next year’s Rugby World Cup national team showpiece.
USA Rugby chief executive Nigel Melville said: “DHL is recognised across the world as a supporter of rugby, has a passion for the game, and sees the potential of rugby in the USA. With the 2015 Rugby World Cup just 11 months away, DHL will provide important support to the Eagles as they prepare to compete in the world’s biggest rugby event. Rugby is now the fastest growing team sport in the USA and these are exciting times for our players, fans, and partners.”
DHL also serves as a worldwide partner and official logistics partner of Rugby World Cup 2015 and is a presenting partner of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour – a year-long journey for the Webb Ellis Cup through traditional rugby hotspots and countries where rugby is an emerging sport.
