Australian National Rugby League (NRL) team the South Sydney Rabbitohs have agreed a new three-year sponsorship deal with the Crown Resorts organisation, following the decision by rival casino The Star not to renew its partnership with the club.
The sponsorship change comes as Crown and Echo Entertainment, parent company of The Star, grapple for control of the Sydney casino market.
Crown’s logo will appear on the front of the Rabbitohs’ home jersey for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons, accompanied by continuing Rabbitohs major corporate partners De’Longhi and Kenwood.
The deal will be worth A$1 million (US$996,500) per year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
