Soft drinks giant Coca-Cola has been unveiled as a sponsor of the 2016 summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Coca-Cola, which was already a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games until 2020 under a deal with the International Olympic Committee and sponsors the Olympic torch relay, has sponsored the Paralympics since the 1992 Games in Barcelona, Spain.
Coca-Cola has two Paralympic athletes – Fernando Fernandes and Verônica Hipólito – as brand ambassadors for Rio 2016.
Coca-Cola joins Bradesco, Bradesco Seguros, Claro, Embratel, Correios, GE, Nissan, Omega and P&B as sponsors of the Rio Paralympics. Atos and Visa are global partners.
“Coca-Cola has had a constant presence in major moments of sporting celebration across the world and we are taking another step in that direction with the sponsorship of the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games,” Flavio Camelier, vice-president of Coca-Cola Brazil for Rio 2016, said.
