Multinational oil and gas company BP has reached an agreement with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to sponsor six US Paralympic teams.
The agreement covers the cycling, swimming, track and field, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding teams.
BP will help cover training and travel costs of the teams and aid preparations for the 2018 winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the 2020 summer Games in Tokyo.
The deal strengthens BP’s commitment to the Paralympic movement. In 2015 the company became the first-ever corporate USOC partner to sponsor an athlete roster featuring more Paralympians than Olympians.
BP is also a partner of the International Paralympic Committee and sponsors a range of National Paralympic Committees around the world.
