Global construction engineering company Bouygues Construction has agreed to become a partner of Paris’ bid to host the 2024 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Bouygues Construction will serve as an official partner of the bid and will support the Paris 2024 team with its aim to deliver “sustainable construction through shared innovation,” should the French capital secure hosting rights to the Games.
Confirmation of the deal brings the total number of companies that have pledged their support to the bid to 19, with 15 official partners and four official suppliers.
Etienne Thobois, chief executive of Paris 2024, said: “The arrival of a leader in this sector highlights the attractiveness of our project as we enter the final stage of the application phase. The know-how of Bouygues Construction and its 50,100 employees worldwide will contribute to the sustainability of our project and the improvement of the living environment of people. It is a strong legacy that we intend to leave.”
Paris and Los Angeles are the only two remaining candidates in the race to host the 2024 Games.
The International Olympic Committee will announce the winning bid in Lima, Peru on September 13.
