German automotive manufacturer BMW has signed a multi-year extension to its title sponsorship of the Berlin Marathon.
BMW has partnered the race since 2011, during which time the men’s world marathon record fell to Kenyan duo Patrick Makau and Wilson Kipsang in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
The financial terms and precise length of BMW’s latest agreement with Berlin Marathon organiser SSC Events were undisclosed.
The 2014 Berlin Marathon will be staged on September 28 and is one of the six World Marathon Majors along with the events in Boston, London, Chicago, New York and Tokyo.
BMW is also the title sponsor of the Frankfurt Marathon, which this year takes place on October 26 in the German city.
