Australian winery Blass Wines has agreed a deal to sponsor next year’s Rugby World Cup Sevens event, which takes place in the US city of San Francisco.
Blass has also signed up as an official partner of USA Rugby ahead of the tournament, which runs from July 20-22 next year.
Blass wines will be featured at sponsored events before and during the event as part of the agreement.
From February, USA Rugby will host a series of Blass-sponsored events aligned with USA Eagles test matches. The events will feature on-site tasting and brand experiential opportunities, VIP suites, player appearances, rugby demonstrations and after-parties.
Blass will also launch a nationwide competition that will give six fans tickets to the World Cup Sevens, which takes place at AT&T Park, home of Major League Baseball team the San Francisco Giants.
USA Rugby chief executive Dan Payne said: “As rugby continues to gain momentum with US consumers, establishing a stronger connection with current fans and attracting new ones is fundamental. We are excited to have a dynamic partner in Blass, helping to raise awareness for the sport while bringing an added interest and experience to match days.”
