Spanish Liga football club Barcelona today unveiled its global sponsorship deal with US computing giant Intel, with president Sandro Rosell stating it will be a “pioneering” partnership in the field of sports marketing.
Having first announced the deal on Monday, Barcelona confirmed today that Intel would become its official technological sponsor in an agreement that aims to make it one of the most technologically advanced clubs in the world. However, the precise terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Barcelona said that the ‘Intel Inside’ logo would feature on the inside of its shirt – the first time it has featured a sponsor’s brand in such a position. The team will wear the new shirt for the first time for Saturday’s Liga match against Villarreal.
Intel will supply Barcelona players and coaches with the latest '2 in 1' Intel based devices while working with them to improve their research, training and performance analysis. The agreement also involves Barcelona and Intel working together to improve the fan experience through new technology at the Nou Camp stadium.
Rosell said: “We are both trend-setters in our fields, and I am convinced that the collaboration that we are starting today will be very important. It will mean much more than a financial sponsorship deal, as it will also help us to become one of the most technologically advanced clubs in the world. Intel is at the heart of computing, it works from within, and that is why our agreement is so innovative and pioneering in the world of sports sponsorship.”
